Since 1934, many prompt attempts have been made at the legal level in order to make Lebanese legislation faultless and devoid of any discrimination against women. Female pioneers and militants, as well as feminist and nongovernmental associations, acted as a catalyst in this endeavor and were successful in some regards.
فمنذ سنة 1934 جرت محاولات حثيثة على صعيد القانون لتنزيه التشريع اللبناني من كل تمييز بحق المرأة - وكان هذا بفعل رائدات ومناضلات وجمعيات نسائية وأهلية - وقد توصلت إلى ذلك في بعض الميادين.

The Committee recently made an advanced, comprehensive legal study of the eradication of all discrimination against women in Lebanese legislation. It managed to put forward motions relative to employment, labor, social security, penal and commercial laws. This proposal was adopted by a number of deputies who submitted it as a motion to Parliament.
وضعت مؤخراً دراسة قانونية شاملة ومتطورة بخصوص تنزيه التشريع اللبناني من كل تمييز ضد المرأة، وتوصلت إلى إطلاق اقتراح قوانين تتعلق بالعمالة والعمل والضمان الاجتماعي والعقوبات والتجارة، تم تبنيه من قبل عدد من النواب الذين قدموه بشكل اقتراح بقانون إلى المجلس النيابي.

It played an important and pioneering role in submitting proposals related to women and to equality between them and men to the Ministry of Justice and to the parliamentary committees. These proposals contributed to the eradication of some forms of discrimination against women in Lebanese legislation, the last proposal being the amendment of Article 562 of the penal code.
ولقد لعبت دوراً هاماً ورائداً في تقديم مشاريع متعلقة بالمرأة وبالمساواة بينها وبين الرجل، قدمتها إلى وزارة العدل واللجان النيابية، فساهمت في تنزيه التشريع اللبناني من بعض أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة وآخرها التعديل الحاصل على المادة 562 من قانون العقوبات.

We enclose the legal provisions in the Penal Code that relate to crimes of terrorism and to the Arab Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism, signed at Cairo on 22 April 1998, which was approved by Law No. 57 of 31 March 1999 and has become part of Lebanese legislation.
نرفق ربطا النصوص القانونية التي تتناول جرائم الإرهاب في قانون العقوبات، والاتفاقية العربية لمكافحة الإرهاب الموقّعة في القاهرة في 22 نيسان/أبريل 1998 والتي أجازها القانون رقم 57 المؤرخ 31 آذار/مارس 1999 والتي أصبحت جزءا من التشريع اللبناني.

The Administration and Justice Committee is today in possession of all the legal articles that constitute discrimination against women and a violation of the Convention. It is hoped that they be approved by the Committee and ratified by the general assembly ; this will be a major achievement at the level of eradicating any discrimination against women in the Lebanese legislation.
ويوجد الآن في أدراج لجنة الإدارة والعدل جميع المواد القانونية التي تشكل تمييزاً ضد المرأة ومخالفة للاتفاقية، نأمل أن تنال موافقة اللجنة ويتم إقرارها من قبل الهيئة العامة- فيكون قد تحقق إنجاز هام على صعيد تنزيه التشريع اللبناني من كل تمييز ضد المرأة.

15. Having reconsidered the legal procedures and the judgements in the case of the murder of the first secretary of the Jordanian Embassy in Lebanon, the Government contends that Youssef Mahmoud Chaabane is serving a prison sentence imposed on him in accordance with a verdict issued by the highest court in Lebanon, and following a trial that was properly conducted in Lebanon. The denial of the application for a retrial was based on Lebanese law.
15- وبعد أن أعادت الحكومة نظرها في الإجراءات القانونية وفي الأحكام الصادرة في قضية قتل السكرتير الأول في السفارة الأردنية بلبنان، تؤكد الحكومة أن يوسف محمود شعبان يقضي عقوبة سجن حُكِمَ بها عليه بموجب قرار صادر عن أعلى هيئة قضائية في لبنان وأن محاكمته جرت في لبنان حسب الأصول المرعية، وأن رفض طلب إعادة المحاكمة هو قرار يستند إلى التشريع اللبناني.
