In that resolution, the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to seek further the views of Member States and relevant United Nations agencies on globalization and its impact on the full enjoyment of all human rights, and to submit a substantive report thereon to the Assembly at its fifty-ninth session.

The Secretary-General submits the present report in response to General Assembly resolution 59/184 in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to seek further the views of Member States and relevant United Nations agencies on this issue and to submit a substantive report on this subject to the General Assembly at its sixtieth session.

During its sixty-fifth session, the Assembly proclaimed the first week of February every year the World Interfaith Harmony Week between all religions, faiths and beliefs (see resolution 65/5), and requested the Secretary-General to further solicit views of Member States on the possibility of proclaiming a United Nations decade for interreligious and intercultural dialogue and cooperation for peace (see resolution 65/138).

The Philippines also thanks Uganda for preparing the report under its presidency in July 2009, and places on record its gratitude to Viet Nam for initiating efforts during its presidency of the Council in July 2008 to improve the manner of preparing the report by seeking the views of Member States during its drafting stage.
