The project will also build on the existing regional coordination mechanism being chaired by the Executive Secretary of ESCAP to coordinate work with the regional offices of other United Nations agencies.

B. Making the best use of the existing regional coordination units

32. The COP also decided to establish an open-ended group to make recommendations to the COP at its eighth session on options for cost-effective and efficient regional coordination, and in particular on how to make the best use of the existing regional coordination units (RCUs).
32- كما قرر مؤتمر الأطراف إنشاء فريق مفتوح باب العضوية يتقدم بتوصيات إلى الدورة الثامنة لمؤتمر الأطراف بشأن خيارات التنسيق الإقليمي المتسمة بالكفاءة والفعالية من حيث التكلفة، وخاصة بشأن كيفية استخدام وحدات التنسيق الإقليمي القائمة على أفضل وجه.

It requested the secretariat to facilitate a costed feasibility study on the possible functions, institutional arrangements, modalities and collaborative arrangements of options for cost-effective and efficient regional coordination, and in particular on how to make best use of the existing regional coordination units and other relevant regional and subregional entities, taking into consideration the submissions mentioned above.
وطلب المؤتمر من الأمانة أن تيسر إجراء دراسة جدوى تحدد فيها تكاليف الوظائف المحتملة، والترتيبات المؤسسية، وطرائق العمل، والترتيبات التعاونية لخيارات التنسيق الإقليمي والكفؤ والفعال من حيث التكلفة، ولا سيما عن كيفية الاستخدام الأفضل لوحدات التنسيق الإقليمي القائمة وغيرها من الكيانات الإقليمية ودون الإقليمية المختصة، مع مراعاة الآراء المقدمة المذكورة أعلاه.

36. In paragraph 5 of decision 3/COP.9, the COP also requested the Executive Secretary to review the current hosting arrangements of the existing regional coordination units, and to conclude, where appropriate, new memorandums of understanding with host institutions and host countries.

وإذ يحيط علماً بالوثيقة ICCD/COP(10)Misc.1 التي تتضمن الاستنتاجات والتوصيات المتعلقة بتحسين فعالية وحدات التنسيق الإقليمي القائمة في أفريقيا وآسيا وأمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي، وبإمكانيات إنشاء وحدة للتنسيق الإقليمي لأوروبا الوسطى والشرقية،

48. By its decision 11/COP.7, the COP decided to establish an open-ended group to review available reports and information received from Parties and other entities and make recommendations to the COP at its eighth session on options for cost-effective and efficient regional coordination, and in particular on how to make the best use of the existing regional coordination units (RCUs) and other relevant regional and subregional entities.
48- قرر مؤتمر الأطراف، في مقرره 11/م أ-7، إنشاء فريق مفتوح العضوية لاستعراض التقارير والمعلومات المتاحة الواردة من الأطراف ومن كيانات أخرى وتقديم توصيات إلى مؤتمر الأطراف في دورته الثامنة بشأن خيارات التنسيق الإقليمي التي تتسم بالكفاءة والفعالية من حيث التكاليف، وخاصة بشأن كيفية استخدام وحدات التنسيق الإقليمي القائمة وغيرها من الكيانات الإقليمية ودون الإقليمية ذات الصلة أفضل استخدام.

33. Decides, while the review process in paragraphs 30, 31 and 32 is taking place and without pre-judging its outcome, to continue through the Supplementary Fund to support, and where possible strengthen, the existing regional coordination Units, and encourages donors and, in accordance with national capacities and where appropriate, the Parties in the regions concerned to provide funds to this end;
33 - يقرر مواصلة دعم وحدات التنسيق الإقليمي القائمة وتعزيزها عند الإمكان بواسطة الصندوق التكميلي، في أثناء سير عملية الاستعراض المبينة في الفقرات 30 و 31 و 32 ودون الحكم على نتائجها مسبقاً. ويشجع الجهات المانحة والأطراف في المناطق المتأثرة على توفير الأموال لهذه الغاية، حسب القدرات الوطنية وعند الاقتضاء؛

33. It noted document ICCD/COP(10)/MISC.1 containing conclusions and recommendations for improving the effectiveness of existing regional coordination Units (RCUs) in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC); on the possibilities of establishing an RCU for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE); and on the need to improve the capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of the RCUs.
وأحاط المؤتمر علماً بالوثيقة ICCD/COP(10)/MISC.1 التي تتضمن الاستنتاجات والتوصيات المتعلقة بتحسين فعالية وحدات التنسيق الإقليمي القائمة في أفريقيا وآسيا وأمريكا اللاتينية والكاريبي؛ وبإمكانيات إنشاء وحدة للتنسيق الإقليمي لأوروبا الوسطى والشرقية؛ وبالحاجة إلى تحسين قدرة وفعالية وكفاءة وحدات التنسيق الإقليمي.
