The Conference had called upon the General Assembly to adopt the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities which had been elaborated at the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs at Vienna and recommended by the Commission for Social Development.
وقد دعا المؤتمر الجمعية العامة إلى اعتماد قواعد لتحقيق مبدأ تكافؤ الفرص للمعوقين، وهي قواعد كان قد وضعها مركز التنمية الاجتماعية والشؤون الانسانية في فيينا وأوصت بها لجنة التنمية الاجتماعية.

Others expressed their concern about the transfer of parts of the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs from Vienna to New York, hoping that the move would not jeopardize the preparations for the Conference.

49. In 1992, the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs (CSDHA) focused its concern on building national capacities and institutional capabilities in accordance with a social perspective on development.

٤٨ - علق عدد من الوفود على انخفاض مستوى اﻷنشطة المدرجة تحت البرنامج الرئيسي المسند إلى مركز التنمية الاجتماعية والشؤون الانسانية.

As noted in the report, further adjustments are expected, particularly in view of the fact that the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs, which provided the parent structure of the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Branch, has been redeployed to the Department for Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development in New York.

Requests the Centre against Apartheid to widen and strengthen its cooperation with the Division for the Advancement of Women of the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs of the Secretariat, with a view to creating specific programmes of assistance to South African women to enable them to participate fully in the process of transition of their country towards a non-racist democracy;

UNICRI participated in this two-day meeting organized by the Italian Ministry of Justice and the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Branch, Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs, United Nations Office at Vienna, and presented a paper on its pilot project for street children in Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

12. The Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Branch of the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs has identified the strengthening of the administration of justice, assistance to Governments in the harmonization of legislation, training, collection of data and preparation of international treaties, as areas of cooperation between the two organizations.

With respect to vocational rehabilitation, a regional seminar on " Increasing Participation of Disabled Persons in Cooperative Movements in the ESCWA Region " was organized early in 1992 in collaboration with the Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations Office at Vienna to formulate the strategies for promoting the participation of disabled persons in cooperative movements.

Lack of resources also limited activities at the international level: thus, for the 1992-1993 biennium, the regular programme budget of the former Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs of the Secretariat was merely $2,735,700, of which 37 per cent was allocated to programmes for the ageing and 63 per cent went to programmes for youth and disabled persons.
وأضافت أن عسر الموارد يحد أيضا من العمل الدولي: فعلى سبيل المثال بالنسبة لميزانية فترة السنتين ١٩٩٢-١٩٩٣، خصصت الميزانية البرنامجية العادية لمركز التنمية الاجتماعية والشؤون الانسانية سابقا قرابة ٧٠٠ ٧٣٥ ٢ دولار فقط، كان منها ٣٧ في المائة لبرنامج خدمة المسنين و٦٣ في المائة للعمل لصالح الشباب والمعوقين.

12. The Advisory Committee further notes that the Secretary-General proposes to absorb the additional requirements for consultancy, travel and computer equipment totalling $65,000 (see para. 10 above) from within the overall appropriations under section 21 (Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs) of the programme budget for the biennium 1992-1993 (ibid., para. 24).
