The Award is presented annually to an individual or individuals, to an institution or institutions or to any combination thereof, for the most outstanding contribution to the awareness of population questions or to their solutions.
وتقدم الجائزة سنويا الى فرد أو أفراد، أو مؤسسة أو مؤسسات، أو أي مجموعة من هؤلاء، وهي تمنح ﻷبرز إسهام في التوعية بمسائل السكان أو في حلولها.

At its thirty-sixth session, in 1981, the General Assembly decided to establish an annual award, to be named the United Nations Population Award, for the most outstanding contribution to the awareness of population questions or to their solutions, by an individual or individuals, or by an institution (resolution 36/201).
في الدورة السادسة والثلاثين المعقودة عام ١٩٨١، قررت الجمعية العامة إنشاء جائزة سنوية تسمى " جائزة اﻷمم المتحدة للسكان " تمنح ﻷبرز إسهام في التوعية بمسائل السكان أو في حلولها يقوم به فرد أو أفراد أو مؤسسة )القرار ٣٦/٢٠١(.

As stipulated in General Assembly resolution 36/201 of 17 December 1981 (A/RES/36/201) on the United Nations Population Award, Member States are annually requested to nominate an individual or institution that has made " an outstanding contribution to the awareness of population questions or to their solutions " for consideration for the annual Award by the Committee for the United Nations Population Award.
وفقا لما نصّ عليه قرار الجمعية العامة 36/201 المؤرخ 17 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1981 (A/RES/36/201) المتعلق بجائزة الأمم المتحدة للسكان، يُطلب سنوياً إلى الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة ترشيح اسم فرد أو مؤسسة قدمت " مساهمة بارزة في التوعية بمسائل السكان أو حلولها " لتنظر فيه لجنة جائزة الأمم المتحدة للسكان التي تمنح جائزة الأمم المتحدة السنوية للسكان.
