II. DRAFT PROGRAMME OF WORK ON BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY OF dry and SUB-HUMID LANDS
ثانياً - مشروع برنامج العمل بشأن التنوع البيولوجي للأراضي الجافة وشبه الرطبة

At its fifth meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya in 2000, the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the CBD adopted the draft Programme of Work on Biological Diversity of dry and Sub-humid Lands.
اعتمد مؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية التنوع البيولوجي، في اجتماعه الخامس المعقود في نيروبي، بكينيا، في عام 2000، مشروع برنامج العمل بشأن التنوع البيولوجي للأراضي الجافة وشبه الرطبة.

In the draft programme of work on dry and sub-humid lands as developed by SBSTTA, six activities are proposed under the heading of assessments addressing:
يقترح مشروع برنامج العمل بشأن الأراضي الجافة وشبه الرطبة، كما وضعته الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتقنية والتكنولوجية، ستة أنشطة تحت عنوان التقييمات، وهي تتناول ما يلي:

Activity 3: Further development of indicators of the biological diversity of dry and sub-humid lands and its loss, for use in the assessment of status and trends;
النشاط 3: مواصلة وضع مؤشرات التنوع البيولوجي للأراضي الجافة وشبه الرطبة وفقدانه وذلك لأغراض استخدامها في تقييم حالة هذا التنوع البيولوجي واتجاهاته؛

B3.2: Prepare guidelines for the application of the ecosystem approach in support of sustainable livelihoods in dry and sub-humid lands;
باء 3-2: إعداد مبادئ توجيهية من أجل تطبيق نهج النظام البيئي دعماً لسبل العيش المستدامة في الأراضي الجافة وشبه الرطبة.

Any early warning system for arid and semi-arid areas should be based on remote sensing data and should include such components as vegetation growth conditions, moisture conditions, estimation of evapotranspiration and crop production assessment.
وينبغي أن يستند أي نظام إنذار مبكر للمناطق الجافة وشبه الجافة إلى بيانات الاستشعار عن بُعد، وأن يتضمن مكونات من قبيل أحوال نمو النبات وأحوال الرطوبة وتقييم التبخر والارتشاح وتقدير إنتاج المحاصيل.

In this regard we also resolve to pay particular attention to cities and other human settlements in critical natural environments such as arid and semi-arid areas with the purpose of providing assistance and support for their development.
وفي هذا الخصوص، فإننا نوطد العزم أيضا على إيلاء اهتمام خاص للمدن والمستوطنات البشرية الأخرى القائمة في بيئات طبيعية صعبة، مثل المناطق الجافة وشبه الجافة بهدف تقديم المساعدة والدعم في تنميتها.

In this regard we also resolve to pay particular attention to cities and other human settlements in critical natural environments such as arid and semi-arid areas with the purpose of providing assistance and support for their development;

It welcomed the decision to establish an intergovernmental working group to establish a science-based definition of land degradation neutrality in arid, semi-arid and sub-humid areas, as well as a science policy interface to facilitate dialogue.
وأعرب عن ترحيب بلاده بالقرار المتخذ لإنشاء فريق عامل حكومي دولي يتولى وضع تعريف علمي لتدني الأراضي في المناطق الجافة وشبه الجافة وشبه الرطبة، فضلا عن سياسة علمية للتداخل تسهيلا للحوار.
