The procedure for prosecuting offences committed abroad follows the general rules contained in articles 9, 10 and 11 of the Penal Code.

Article 8. offences committed abroad in respect of legal assets enjoying universal protection

Article 8, paragraphs 2 and 3, of the Paraguayan Criminal Code provide the following restrictions in relation to the prosecution of offences committed abroad in respect of legal assets enjoying universal protection:

In addition, article 146 of the Penal Code sanctions perpetrators who act for the purpose of making a profit or take part in associations for the purpose of committing offences or laundering money or securities representing the proceeds of offences committed abroad.

540. The Committee recommends that the State party ensure that national legislation does not require double criminality for extradition and/or prosecution of offences committed abroad.

It should be borne in mind that the Penal Code provides in Articles 110-112 for liability of an alien before a Polish court for crimes committed abroad, if he committed abroad a crime:

27. The extradition of Cypriot citizens to another State was not permitted under the provisions of the Constitution. However, the prosecuting authorities might be contacted in connection with crimes committed abroad, which were classified as offences in Cyprus and over which the courts had jurisdiction.

1.6 Jurisdiction for offenses committed abroad

The Code prescribes special conditions for criminal prosecution in respect of a criminal offence committed abroad (art. 10).
