I have the honour to inform you that, at the 76th plenary meeting of its sixty-seventh session, held today, the General Assembly decided to allocate the following agenda item to the Fifth Committee:

At its forty-eighth session, the General Assembly decided to create the post of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights; it also decided, inter alia, that the High Commissioner would be the United Nations official with principal responsibility for United Nations human rights activities under the direction and authority of the Secretary-General.
وكانت الجمعية العامة قد قررت في دورتها الثامنة والأربعين، إنشاء منصب مفوض الأمم المتحدة السامي لحقوق الإنسان؛ وقررت أيضا، في جملة أمور، أن يكون المفوض السامي هو مسؤول الأمم المتحدة المناطة به المسؤولية الرئيسية عن أنشطة الأمم المتحدة في ميدان حقوق الإنسان في ظل توجيه الأمين العام وسلطته.

It was also important to recall that the General Assembly had decided to impose certain restrictions on the granting of permanent contracts.
