In 1998, a Political Declaration and the Action Plan on International Cooperation on the Eradication of Illicit Drug Crops and on Alternative Development were adopted at the twentieth special session of the United Nations General Assembly. The decade that has passed since then has shown the legitimacy of the goals established and the urgency of achieving them.
