49- وينبغي للمجتمع الدولي أن يعمل على إشراك الشعوب الأصلية في استراتيجيات الحدّ من أخطار الكوارث.

A questionnaire has been circulated to collect baseline data, and a Hemispheric Consultation on Engaging Indigenous Peoples in disaster risk reduction is planned for mid-2014.

Furthermore, disaster risk reduction initiatives should respect indigenous peoples' right to self-determination, their rights related to lands, territories and resources, and their right to participate in decision-making.
وينبغي، علاوة على ذلك، أن تحترم مبادرات الحدّ من أخطار الكوارث حقّ الشعوب الأصلية في تقرير المصير وحقوقها في الأراضي والأقاليم والموارد وحقّها في المشاركة في صنع القرارات.
