In connection with our activities in the area of forestry, which is crucial for sustainable development, I would like to remind you that the Eleventh World Forestry Congress will be held later this year in Antalya, Turkey.

Further, the eleventh World Forestry Congress concluded that the Joint Implementation approach under the climate regime is regarded by some as a promising instrument for the protection of tropical rainforests.

The Eleventh World Forestry Congress, held in October 1997, recommended that Governments pay more attention to mangrove and coastal forest ecosystems.
فقد أوصى مؤتمر الحراجة العالمي الحادي عشر الذي عقد في تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٧ أن تولي الحكومات اهتماما أكبر بالنظم اﻹيكولوجية الحرجية الاستوائية والساحلية.

The Partnership plans to organize a side event at the third session of the Forum and at the World Forestry Congress (Quebec, September 2003).

During the past few years, Association representatives have participated in conferences of the parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, forums of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the World Forestry Congress 2003 and numerous other international events.

19. In October 2003, Mr. Tamang and Mr. Jacanamijoy travelled to Canada to participate in the Twelfth World Forestry Congress and the Indigenous People's Forest Forum.

Also, the Working Group on Natural Disasters of the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations (IUFRO) plans to hold a meeting in the framework of the Eleventh World Forestry Congress (Antalya, Turkey, 13-22 October 1997).

An international FAO/Netherlands workshop was organized on the subject at Pucalpa, Peru, in June 1997, followed by a meeting at the Eleventh World Forestry Congress and the establishment of tropical secondary forest network.
