إذ تناشد الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو الانضمام إلى اتفاقية عام 1970،

In the Declaration, UNESCO member States agree to respect and protect traditional knowledge, in particular that of indigenous peoples.

The organization's long experience in the struggle against discrimination led to the adoption in 1978 of the Declaration on Race and Racial Prejudice which denies all forms of discrimination and establishes a special mechanism of presentation of periodic reports by UNESCO member States.

A letter in response to that recommendation will soon be sent by the Director-General to the States members of UNESCO.

Furthermore, in that resolution, the States members of UNESCO asked the General Assembly to do the same.

2. Invites UNESCO member States to consider:

1. Invites UNESCO member States and others to make voluntary donations to the Fund;
1 - تدعو الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو والدول الأخرى إلى تقديم تبرعات للصندوق؛

2. Urges the UNESCO member States to support this initiative inter alia by providing representative examples of return and restitution to the secretariat;
2 - تحث الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو على دعم هذه المبادرة من خلال أمور من بينها تزويد الأمانة بنماذج تمثيلية من حالات إعادة الممتلكات الثقافية واستردادها؛

Those recommendations, which are intended to ensure constant respect for human rights and freedoms in the development of the use of outer space and related technologies, will be presented to UNESCO member States during the biennium 2002-2003.
وستقدَّم تلك التوصيات، التي ترمي إلى ضمان الاحترام المتواصل لحقوق الانسان وحرياته في تطوير استخدام تكنولوجيات الفضاء والتكنولوجيات ذات الصلة، إلى الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو في فترة السنتين 2002-2003.

In that regard, the Subcommission will present draft recommendations at the second session of COMEST, to be held in September 2001, which will then be presented to UNESCO member States.

Fifty-two States members of UNESCO that are not members of the Committee were also represented as observers, as were two permanent observer missions to the organization, nine intergovernmental organizations and one non-governmental organization.
كما حضر الدورة أيضا، بصفة مراقبين، ممثلـون عن الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو غير الأعضاء في اللجنة، وهي 52 دولة، إلى جانب اثنين من البعثات المراقبة الدائمة لدى المنظمة، وتسـع من المنظمات الحكومية الدولية، ومنظمة غير حكومية واحدة.

6. The World Science Conference aimed to help strengthen the commitment of the States members of UNESCO and other major stakeholders to science, education, research and development, and to define a strategy that would ensure that science responds better to society's needs and aspirations in the twenty-first century.
6 - وكان الهدف من المؤتمر العالمي للعلوم المساعدة على تعزيز التزام الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو وسائر الجهات الرئيسية صاحبة المصلحة بالعلم والتعليم والبحث والتنمية، ووضع استراتيجية من شأنها أن تكفل تسخير العلوم بصورة أفضل وتلبية احتياجات المجتمع وطموحاته في القرن الحادي والعشرين.

The Committee decided to take note of the Principles and to invite the Director-General to communicate the report and the Principles to all States members of UNESCO, inviting them to send their observations to the secretariat before the end of 2003, subsequently to be made available in a timely fashion to the Committee for its next session (Recommendation No. 7).

That is why it is of great satisfaction to me to see the member States of UNESCO call for the adoption this year of the International Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, demonstrating their awareness of the importance and urgency of preserving one of the most vulnerable and most fundamental aspects of cultural heritage.
ولهذا من دواعي ارتياحي الكبير أن أرى الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو تدعو إلى اعتماد الاتفاقية الدولية لحماية التراث الثقافي غير المادي هذا العام، مظهرة وعيها بأهمية وعدالة الحفاظ على واحد من أكثر جوانب التراث الثقافي ضعفا وأهمية.

The draft ISCED was then sent for global consultation to all member States of UNESCO, to both their Ministries of Education and, with the assistance of the United Nations Statistics Division, all national statistical offices.
