40. At the invitation of the Chairman of the Commission of the African Union, the Centre provided expert support on the occasion of the African Union/Eminent Persons brainstorming session on building an African Union for the 21st century, held in Addis Ababa in October 2003.

Challenges persist, many of which were discussed at the Africa Regional Consultative Meeting on the Sustainable Development Goals held in Addis Ababa in October 2013.

8. From 25 to 27 February 1998, the Committee of Five met in the margins of the meeting of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) Council of Ministers held in Addis Ababa to review the situation in Sierra Leone. The Committee issued a communiqué, which was subsequently circulated as document S/1998/170.

118. In this regard, UPU participated in May 1999 in the first OAU meeting of the Committee on Transport, Communications and Tourism held in Addis Ababa, whose main objective was precisely to lay down strategies for implementing the AEC.

14. Pan-African Implementation and Partnership Conference on Water: This conference, held in Addis Ababa in December 2003, considered the implications of the outcomes of the World Summit on Sustainable Development on regional water initiatives and the continent's role in implementing the Summit's outcomes.
14- مؤتمر عموم أفريقيا للتنفيذ والشراكة بشأن المياه: قام هذا المؤتمر، الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003 ببحث آثار نتائج القمة العالمية المعنية بالتنمية المستدامة على مبادرات المياه الإقليمية وعلى دور القارة في تنفيذ نتائج القمة.

Upon instruction from my Government, I have the honour to transmit herewith the joint communiqué of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Sana'a Forum for Cooperation, which was held in Addis Ababa on 18 and 19 July 2006 (see annex).

The Twenty-first Meeting of Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (HONLEA), Africa, held in Addis Ababa, from 5-9 September 2011, adopted a set of recommendations following the consideration by working groups of the issues indicated below.
1- اعتمد الاجتماع الحادي والعشرون لرؤساء الأجهزة الوطنية المعنية بإنفاذ قوانين المخدِّرات، أفريقيا، الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا في الفترة من 5 إلى 9 أيلول/سبتمبر 2011، مجموعةً من التوصيات بعد أن نظرت الأفرقة العاملة في المسائل المبينة أدناه.

7. With regard to the implementation of action 9, at the first Conference of States Parties to the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty, held in Addis Ababa on 4 November 2010, the European Union offered to support the implementation of the Treaty and the establishment and work of the African Commission on Nuclear Energy.
7 - وفيما يتصل بتنفيذ الإجراء 9، فقد عرض الاتحاد الأوروبي، خلال المؤتمر الأول للدول الأطراف في معاهدة إنشاء منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية في أفريقيا الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا في 4 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2010، تقديم الدعم لتنفيذ المعاهدة ولإنشاء وعمل اللجنة الأفريقية للطاقة النووية.

As part of the programme of work of the meeting, the chairpersons considered the follow-up to the recommendations of their twenty-fourth meeting, held in Addis Ababa in 2012, and reviewed developments, including the implementation by treaty bodies of recommendations included in the report of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on strengthening the treaty body system.
44- وفي إطار برنامج عمل الاجتماع، نظر رؤساء الهيئات في المتابعة التي أجريت لتوصيات اجتماعهم الرابع والعشرين، الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا عام 2012، واستعرضوا التطورات، بما فيها تنفيذ هيئات المعاهدات للتوصيات الواردة في تقرير مفوضة الأمم المتحدة السامية لحقوق الإنسان عن تعزيز نظام هيئات المعاهدات.

UNICEF provided technical input to the Africa-wide campaign on violence against women, as well as the preparation of the International Conference on Population and Development +15, held in Addis Ababa in October 2009 and Beijing +15 in Banjul in November 2009.
وقدمت اليونيسيف دعما تقنيا لحملة إنهاء العنف ضد المرأة في أفريقيا، وللأعمال التحضيرية للمؤتمر الدولي للسكان والتنمية + 15، الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2009، ومؤتمر بيجين + 15، الذي عُقد في بانجول في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2009.

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities welcomes the guidelines on the independence and impartiality of members of the human rights treaty bodies (Addis Ababa guidelines), endorsed by the twenty-fourth meeting of the Chairs of the human rights treaty bodies, which was held in Addis Ababa from 25 to 29 June 2012.
1- ترحب اللجنة المعنية بحقوق الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة بالمبادئ التوجيهية بشأن استقلال وحياد أعضاء هيئات معاهدات حقوق الإنسان (مبادئ أديس أبابا التوجيهية) التي أقرها الاجتماع الرابع والعشرون لرؤساء هيئات معاهدات حقوق الإنسان الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا في الفترة من 25 إلى 29 حزيران/يونيه 2012.

It should be noted that the African Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Addis Ababa from 9 to 11 April 2014, adopted a number of recommendations of direct relevance to the direction and management of the Institute (see A/CONF.222/RPM.4/1), namely the following:

Recently, in collaboration with another non-governmental organization, the Centre for Development and Population Activities, UNFPA organized the African Youth Forum on Adolescent Reproductive Health, which was held at Addis Ababa.
وفي اﻵونة اﻷخيرة، نظم الصندوق، بالتعاون مع منظمة حكومية دولية أخرى، ومركز أنشطة التنمية والسكان، منتدى الشباب اﻷفريقي للصحة اﻹنجابية عند المراهقين الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا.

Information technology for development, which is a major theme under the Special Initiative, was the subject of the first African Development Forum, which took place in Addis Ababa from 24 to 28 October 1999, and was opened by the Deputy Secretary-General.
وكان تسخير تكنولوجيا المعلومات من أجل التنمية، الذي هو أحد المواضيع الرئيسية في إطار المبادرة الخاصة، هو موضوع المنتدى الأفريقي الأول للتنمية الذي عُقد في أديس أبابا في الفترة من 24 إلى 28 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1999، وافتتحته نائبة الأمين العام.
