وكان السفير ياكوفيدس عضوا في صفوة كبار أعضاء مجمع فكر تابع للفريق الاستشاري للكومنولث المعني بالقضايا التي تواجهها الدول الصغيرة، و أسفر عملها عن إصدار أمانة الكومنولث لكتاب تحت عنوان " مستقبل الدول الصغيرة - التغلب على حالة الضعف " (1997) (A Future for Small States - Overcoming Vulnerability).

Ambassador Jacovides has been actively associated with the whole range of international law activities of the United Nations and other international organizations for the past 36 years, having served as representative of Cyprus to the Sixth (Legal) Committee from the fifteenth to the fifty-first sessions of the General Assembly (he was Vice-Chairman of the Sixth Committee in 1972).
