We welcome the ceasefire in the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea, and it is our hope that the parties will undertake dialogue with a view to a lasting peace.
ونرحب بوقف إطلاق النار في الصراع بين إثيوبيا وإريتريا، ونأمل أن يجري الطرفان حوارا يرمي إلى إرساء سلام دائم.

The conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea is caused by the Eritrean aggression against Ethiopia and by the consequent Eritrean occupation of Ethiopian territories.
وكان السبب في نشوب الصراع بين إثيوبيا وإريتريا هو العدوان اﻹريتري على إثيوبيا والاحتلال اﻹريتري اللاحق لﻷراضي اﻹثيوبية.

However, the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea and the conflict in Darfur, Sudan, still prevail, while the issue of Western Sahara's self-determination remains unresolved.
بيد أن الصراع بين إثيوبيا وإريتريا والصراع الدائر في دارفور، في السودان، لا يزالان متأججين، في حين أن قضية تقرير مصير الصحراء الغربية لا تزال دون حل.

Thus, whether it be the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea or the situation in the Great Lakes region, in Angola or in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there have been significant breakthroughs in the pursuit of peaceful, just and lasting solutions, thanks to concerted action by the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the United Nations.
وهكذا فسواء كان ذلك الصراع بين إثيوبيا وإريتريا أو الحالة في منطقة البحيرات الكبرى، أو في أنغولا أو في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، فإنه كانت هناك طفرات كبيرة في متابعة الحلول السلمية والعادلة والدائمة بفضل الإجراءات المنسقة من جانب منظمة الوحدة الأفريقية والأمم المتحدة.

Algeria would like to pay particular tribute to the United Nations Secretary-General, the Government of the United States and the European Union for their constant support for our efforts to mediate the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea; we regularly kept the Secretary-General and the Security Council informed about developments in the peace process.
