21. The Committee is concerned that the general level of awareness about the Convention remains extremely limited, and that training on child rights reach only a limited number of professionals working with or for children.

364. The Committee is concerned at the low level of awareness of the Convention amongst professionals working with and for children and the general public, including children themselves.

It notes however that the Convention may not be sufficiently known and understood throughout the country, including among children themselves, parents and professionals working with and for children both at the central and local levels.

23. The Committee notes the efforts made to further disseminate the Convention among professionals working with and for children as well as among the general public, especially children themselves.

The Committee notes as positive the inclusion in the 2004 - 2010 National Plan of Action for improving the situation of children and for protecting their rights, of measures to familiarise children as well as professionals working with and for children with the provisions of the Optional Protocol.

On 30 September 2003, the Committee met with two representatives of the International Institute for Child Rights and Development based at the University of Victoria (Canada), Ms. Gerison Lansdown and Mr. Stuart Hart, who presented a project to develop educational programmes on the human rights of children for professionals working with and for children.
