8. In November 2004, the head of Kuwait Airways Corporation informed Ambassador Vorontsov that several containers with spare parts belonging to Kuwait Airways Corporation had been found at the premises of the Baghdad International Airport and returned by Iraq to Kuwait.

In response, my predecessor informed the Security Council, in a letter to the President dated 26 March 1991 (S/22387), that he had designated Mr. J. Richard Foran, the Assistant Secretary-General, Office of General Services, Department of Administration and Management, as the official responsible for coordinating the return of property from Iraq to Kuwait.

8. Ideally, the mortal remains of all missing Kuwaitis and third-country nationals should be repatriated by Iraq to Kuwait, as provided for in paragraph 14 of Security Council resolution 1284 (1999), so that all files can be closed.
8 - والوضع الأمثل هو أن يعيد العراق إلى الكويت رفات جميع المفقودين من المواطنين الكويتيين ومواطني الدول الثالثة، وفقا لما تقضى به الفقرة 14 من قرار مجلس الأمن 1284 (1999)، بحيث يمكن إغلاق جميع الملفات.

16. With regard to the return of the Kuwaiti spare parts found in Tunisia, it should be recalled that in May 2006 when the handover of property from Iraq to Kuwait occurred in Tunis, three items, namely a nose cowl, a tail cone and an aft (rear) exhaust sleeve, were transferred to Kuwait conditionally (see S/2006/428, annex).

21. I am encouraged by the positive momentum generated by the visits of the Prime Minister of Iraq to Kuwait on 14 and 15 March and the Emir of Kuwait to Baghdad to attend the League of Arab States Summit on 29 March, as well as the second session of the Joint Kuwait-Iraq Ministerial Committee on 29 April, to address all outstanding issues and normalize relations.
21 - ولقد تشجعت بالزخم الإيجابي الذي أسفرت عنه الزيارة التي قام بها رئيس وزراء العراق إلى الكويت يومى 14 و 15 آذار/مارس، وزيارة أمير الكويت إلى بغداد لحضور مؤتمر قمة جامعة الدول العربية في 29 آذار/مارس، وكذلك الدورة الثانية للجنة الوزارية الكويتية - العراقية المشتركة في 29 نيسان/أبريل، بهدف معالجة جميع المسائل العالقة وتطبيع العلاقات.

They were also encouraged by the return to Kuwait by Iraq in October 2002, the Kuwaiti archives previously taken or removed from Kuwait and the promise by Iraq to return any documents and archives that could be found in the future.
