In paragraph 5 of the decisions, the conferences of the parties requested the secretariats of the three conventions to pursue further cooperation and coordination in respect of activities that were not listed in annex I to the decisions but were included in the approved programmes of work and budgets for 2012 - 2013 and could be undertaken in a costneutral manner.

Additional activities that were included in the approved programmes of work and budgets for 2012 - 2013 that the Secretariat has been undertaking in a cooperative and coordinated manner pursuant to paragraph 5 of the 2011 synergies decisions, such as international cooperation and coordination activities, are described in document UNEP/FAO/CHW/RC/POPS/EXCOPS.2/INF/13.

The draft programmes of work and budgets for the biennium 2014 - 2015 are also presented in separate documents for each convention (UNEP/CHW.11/INF/26, UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.6/INF/15 and UNEP/POPS/COP.6/INF/6).

This service has achieved significant results in ensuring that the programmes of work and budgets are presented in the same format, improving indicators of achievement, developing a common format for reporting on the implementation of the programmes of work, developing common formats for invoices and financial reports to donors, sharing rosters of consultants and facilitating audits.

At its tenth special session, the UNEP Governing Council authorized the Executive Director to use the medium-term strategy in formulating the strategic frameworks and programmes of work and budgets for 2010 - 2011 and for 2012 - 2013 and as a means to encourage coordination among UNEP divisions.
