We believe that adoption of the draft regulations should also serve as an important reference for Member States in discussing the draft regulations on cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts in the Area.

6. As agreed at the seventh session, the Council took up the matter of considerations relating to the regulations for prospecting and exploration for polymetallic sulphides and cobalt-rich crusts in the Area.

1. On 31 December 2013, the Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority received an application for the approval of a plan of work for exploration for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts in the Area.
