The overall objective of the regional programme is to contribute to and support the efforts of West African States, as well as those of regional organizations and civil society, to respond to evolving human security threats and to promote the rule of law and good governance.
61- ويهدف البرنامج الإقليمي عموما إلى الإسهام في جهود دول غرب أفريقيا والمنظمات الإقليمية والمجتمع المدني ودعمها لمواجهة تهديدات الأمن البشري المتطورة وتعزيز سيادة القانون والإدارة الرشيدة.

3. The first sentence of operative paragraph 5 should read: " We are convinced that upholding the rule of law and good governance at the national and international level are critical to the creation of an environment for successfully tackling crime. "
3- ينبغي أن يكون نص الجملة الأولى من الفقرة 5 من المنطوق كما يلي: " نحن مقتنعون بأنّ التمسّك بسيادة القانون والإدارة الرشيدة على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي أمر حاسم الأهمية لإيجاد بيئة تتيح التصدّي للجريمة بنجاح. "

It was stressed that to effectively counter those threats to peace and security, the Office should continue assisting Member States, including those with economies in transition and those emerging from conflict, in building fair and effective criminal justice systems based on the rule of law and good governance.
