The Council of the League of Arab States, meeting in Cairo on 14 September 1996 at the level of Ministers for Foreign Affairs,

These historic events were preceded by the signing of the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements in Washington, D.C., on 13 September 1993 and by the signing at Cairo on 4 May 1994 of the Israel-PLO Agreement on the Gaza Strip and the Jericho Area.

Also referring to the conclusions of the special meeting on the permanent link organized at Cairo on 5 April 1994 by the International Tunnelling Association on the occasion of its General Assembly, pursuant to Council resolution 1993/60,

The African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (Treaty of Pelindaba) was signed in Cairo on 11 April 1996.
تم التوقيع على معاهدة إنشاء منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية في أفريقيا (معاهدة بليندابا) في القاهرة بتاريخ 11 نيسان/أبريل 1996.

As one example among many, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said in Cairo on 1 September 2013 that his country had sent weapons to the Syrian opposition, and that that was no secret.

At the kind invitation of His Excellency General Émile Lahoud, President of the Lebanese Republic, and in implementation of the resolution adopted by the extraordinary Arab summit conference held in Cairo on 21 and 22 October 2000 to the effect that the Summit-level Council of the League of Arab States would normally meet in regular session once a year, the Council met in Beirut, capital of the Lebanese Republic, on 27 and 28 March 2002.

During the reporting period, dialogue took place between Israeli, Jordanian and Egyptian officials at the highest levels, including a meeting of Foreign Minister Livni with her Jordanian and Egyptian counterparts in Cairo on 10 May, and Prime Minister Olmert and King Abdullah of Jordan on 15 May. A ministerial-level follow-up meeting is anticipated in Israel in the coming weeks.
