2. The Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities shall be monitored within the framework of the sessions of the Commission for Social Development.

The Commission will carry out the fourth quadrennial review of the International Plan of Action on Ageing and the third quinquennial review of the World Programme of Action concerning Disabled Persons and will consider the report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on progress in the implementation of the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.

It was decided that the National Coordinating Council for the Protection of Disabled Persons would meet with the Minister of Labour and Social Security to discuss the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities and to review and evaluate activities undertaken within the framework of the National Action Plan.

From the disability perspective, policy guidance for the design of positive measures to address social vulnerability is provided by the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, in particular Rules 5 through 8. Rule 5 addresses accessibility to the physical environment and to information and communication.
