Despite some recent encouraging developments, especially through the adoption of legislative and other measures in the field of education i.e. the Framework Law on primary and secondary education, the establishment of a nineyear cycle of compulsory education and the Action Plan for meeting educational needs of Roma and other national minorities the Committee remains concerned at:

The Sudanese legislation asserts the principle of non-discrimination as one of the fundamental rights in order to obtain all services provided to children such as health, education, protection and social care. That principle is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Sudan, the Constitution of Southern Sudan and the constitutions of all states, in addition to other national legislations, the most important of which is the Child Act 2010.
