5. As at April 2008, the number of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals whose mortal remains had been identified by Kuwait was 235.

On 26 March, the President of the Security Council sent the Council's reply to the Secretary-General concerning the financing of the activities of the High-level Coordinator for missing Kuwaitis and third-country citizens and missing Kuwaiti property.

Members of the Council expressed deep concern at the continuing plight of missing Kuwaiti and third-country nationals and their families which has remained unresolved for 10 years and expressed their hope that this issue would continue to be dealt with as a strictly humanitarian one by all sides concerned and be resolved urgently.
وأعرب أعضاء المجلس عن عميق قلقهم لاستمرار محنة المفقودين من الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة وأسرهم، والتي ظلت عشرة أعوام دون حل، معربين عن أملهم في أن تواصل كافة الأطراف المعنية التعامل مع هذه القضية من وجهة نظر إنسانية بحتة وتسويتها على وجه السرعة.

6. The number of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals whose remains have not been identified stands at 369 (out of a total of 605).

8. The Kuwaiti National Committee for Missing Persons and Prisoners of War Affairs informed the Coordinator that the work on the repatriation and identification of the remains of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals had continued.
8 - وأبلغت اللجنة الوطنية الكويتية لشؤون المفقودين وأسرى الحرب المنسق بتواصل الأعمال المتعلقة بإعادة رفات الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة والتعرف عليها.

18. I would like to reiterate my strong condemnation of the killing of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals by the previous Iraqi regime. The perpetrators of the crimes committed by the previous regime in Iraq should be prosecuted.
18 - وأود أن أُكرر إدانتي الشديدة لقيام النظام العراقي السابق بقتل المواطنين الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة, وينبغي محاكمة مرتكبي الجرائم في النظام السابق في العراق.

1. The present report is submitted pursuant to paragraph 14 of Security Council resolution 1284 (1999), in which the Council requested me to report every four months on the compliance by Iraq with its obligations regarding the repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains.
1 - هذا التقرير مقدم عملا بالفقرة 14 من قرار مجلس الأمن 1284 (1999)، الذي طلب إليَّ فيه المجلس أن أقدم تقريرا كل أربعة أشهر عن امتثال العراق لالتزاماته في ما يتعلق بإعادة أو عودة جميع الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة أو رفاتهم إلى أوطانهم.

16. This movement forward brings certainty to the relatives of those prisoners of war whose remains have been found. Nevertheless, the sad truth is that so far not a single person from the initial list of 605 Kuwaiti and third-country nationals has been found alive.
16 - ومن شأن هذا التقدم أن يوفر الطمأنينة لأقرباء أسرى الحرب الذين تم العثور على رفاتهم, بيد أن الحقيقة المحزنة هي أنه لم يعثر إلى الآن، حتى على شخص واحد على قيد الحياة، من الأشخاص المدرجة أسماؤهم في القائمة الأولية التي تضم 605 من الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة.

6. In a subsequent statement to the press, the President of the Security Council said that the Council expressed deep concern over the continuing plight of the Kuwaiti and third-country nationals still remaining in Iraq.
6 - وفي بيان أدلـى بـه في وقت لاحـق رئيس مجلس الأمن إلى الصحافة قال إن المجلس أعرب عن بالغ قلقـه إزاء " استمرار حالة المواطنين الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة المتبقين في العراق " .
