1. the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation held its third session at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, from 12 to 16 June 1995.
١- عقدت اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر دورتها الثالثة بقصر اﻷمم في جنيف في الفترة من ٢١ الى ٦١ حزيران/يونيه ٥٩٩١.

Four new standing committees were created, among them the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation.
وأنشئت أربع لجان دائمة جديدة منها اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر.

Active participation by the relevant United Nations agencies and multilateral organizations would have a decisive impact on focusing the direction of possible future work of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation.

With the concurrence of the Bureau, the Board decided to note the change in the name and grant WSBI general category status to participate in the work of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation, Economic Cooperation in Developing Countries and Developing Services Sectors and the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Role of Enterprises in Development.

In particular, the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation has as yet done no work on the linkages between poverty and sustainable development, an issue which is arguably of the highest importance if it is true, as some observers contend, that poverty is itself an important cause of environmental degradation.

16. Given the scale and intensity of poverty in the African continent, the work of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation is extremely relevant to the New Agenda for the Development of Africa in the 1990s.
٦١- بالنظر إلى نطاق وحدة الفقر في القارة اﻷفريقية، فإن لعمل اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر صلة وثيقة للغاية بخطة اﻷمم المتحدة الجديدة لتنمية أفريقيا في التسعينات.

21. The representative of Mexico cited the World Summit for Social Development and its implications for poverty alleviation, noting that the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation should incorporate in its activities the broad integrated approach adopted there, starting with an in-depth analysis of the agreements reached at the Summit.
١٢- وأشار ممثل المكسيك الى مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية الاجتماعية وآثاره على تخفيف الفقر، فلاحظ أن اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر يجب أن تدرج ضمن أنشطتها النهج العام المتكامل الذي اعتُمد في المؤتمر، بدءا باجراء تحليل متعمق للاتفاقات التي تم التوصل اليها في مؤتمر القمة.

36. The third session of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation was opened by Mr. Markus Kummer (Switzerland), Chairman of the Standing Committee at its second session.
٦٣- افتتح السيد ماركوس كومر )سويسرا(، رئيس اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر في دورتها الثانية، الدورة الثالثة للجنة.

11. the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation had been established as one of the innovative instruments for implementing the new partnership for development and peace, launched in Cartagena at UNCTAD VIII. It is agreed that the Committee has done valuable work on various issues on its agenda during its three sessions.
١١- وقد تم إنشاء اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر كأداة من اﻷدوات الابتكارية لتنفيذ الشراكة الجديدة من أجل التنمية والسلم التي انطلقت في كرتاخينا في اﻷونكتاد الثامن. ومن المتفق عليه أن اللجنة قد قامت بعمل قيم بشأن مختلف القضايا المدرجة على جدول أعمالها خلال دوراتها الثلاث.

(b) the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation agreed on a work programme of six priority areas which contains the following elements relating to sustainable development:

17. the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation organized a meeting in Geneva of an Intergovernmental Group of Experts from 24 to 28 January 1994, for the purpose of exchanging experiences on poverty reduction impacts of social funds and safety nets, including mobilization of domestic and external resources for poverty alleviation.
٧١- وقد نظمت اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر اجتماعا في جنيف لفريق حكومي دولي من الخبراء في الفترة من ٤٢ إلى ٨٢ كانون الثاني/يناير ٤٩٩١، بغرض تبادل الخبرات بشأن تأثير الصناديق الاجتماعية وشبكات اﻷمان في الحد من الفقر، بما في ذلك تعبئة الموارد المحلية والخارجية لتخفيف الفقر.

The provisional agenda for the third session of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation was approved by the Committee at the closing meeting of its second session (see annex II of TD/B/41(1)/11-TD/B/CN.2/11).
٢- وافقت اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر على جدول اﻷعمال المؤقت لدورتها الثالثة في الجلسة الختامية من دورتها الثانية )انظر المرفق الثاني للوثيقة TD/B/41(1)/11-TD/B/CN.2/11(.

In taking note of the report of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation on its second session, the Board may wish to endorse the agreed conclusions contained in paragraphs 90-92 and the contribution to the World Summit for Social Development, contained in annex I.
وقد يود المجلس، إذ يحيط علما بتقرير اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر عن دورتها الثانية، أن يؤيد الاستنتاجات المتفق عليها الواردة في الفقرات ٠٩-٢٩ والمساهمة المقدمة إلى مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية الاجتماعية والواردة في المرفق اﻷول.

The work of UNCTAD's Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation is focused on the need to expand international trade as a means of poverty reduction.
وتركز أعمال اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر التابعة للاونكتاد على الحاجة إلى توسيع نطاق التجارة الدولية كوسيلة للحد من دائرة الفقر.

(Mr. Acharya, Nepal) 45. the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation of UNCTAD should be made more effective. In addition to strengthening its data collection and analytical capabilities, the Standing Committee should coordinate the efforts of various groups and teams dealing with poverty issues.
٤٥ - وأردف قائلا إنه ينبغي زيادة فعالية اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بتخفيف الفقر التي ينبغي أن تضطلع، باﻹضافة إلى تعزيز قدراتها في مجال جمع البيانات والتحليل، بتنسيق الجهود التي تبذلها مختلف اﻷفرقة والفرق التي تتناول قضايا الفقر.
