These principles set the framework for the work of the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio-Economic Reintegration, established in 1999.

In doing so the States Parties, particularly through the work of the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio-Economic Reintegration since the Nairobi Summit, have made great advances in formally elaborating understandings regarding what the aim of victim assistance is and how it should be pursued.

84. The Co-Chairs have also taken steps to strengthen linkages between the work of the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio-Economic Reintegration and implementation mechanisms developed under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

In order to make the best possible use of the time dedicated by such experts in the work of the Convention, the Co-Chairs of the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio-Economic Reintegration organized an ambitious parallel programme during the 23-27 April 2007 meetings of the Standing Committees.

(iv) In 2006 and beyond, a priority should be placed by the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance on exploring in greater detail those areas of victim assistance which were not covered in great detail in 2005 such as physical rehabilitation, psychological support and / or establishment, enforcement and implementation of relevant laws and public policies.

Within the framework of the Convention, Norway, together with Nicaragua, had chaired the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio-Economic Reintegration, which in the past year had focused on developing national capacities and, in accordance with the victims' own stated preferences, had concentrated on two issues: trauma care and socio-economic rehabilitation.

At the June 2010 meeting of the Standing Committee on Victim Assistance and Socio-Economic Reintegration, a special session raised awareness on Inclusive Development as an appropriate mechanism to ensure that landmine victims and other persons with disabilities have access to the same opportunities in life as every other sector of a society.
وفي اجتماع اللجنة الدائمة المعنية بمساعدة الضحايا وإعادة الإدماج الاجتماعي والاقتصادي المعقود في حزيران/يونيه 2010، نُظمت جلسة استثنائية للتوعية بالتنمية الشاملة بوصفها آلية ملائمة تضمن تكافؤ الفرص بالنسبة لضحايا الألغام وغيرهم من المعوقين، شأنهم شأن سائر شرائح المجتمع.
