At its fortyninth session, in its resolution 1997/11, the SubCommission decided to entrust Mr. El Hadji Guissé with the task of preparing a background document on the question of the relationship between the enjoyment of human rights and the working methods and activities of transnational corporations, for submission to the SubCommission at its fiftieth session.

The Subcommittee agreed on the following items to be proposed to the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space for inclusion in the agenda of the Subcommittee at its fiftieth session:

166. Following the resignation of Ms. Chavez as Special Rapporteur, the Sub-Commission, in its decision 1997/114, decided to entrust Ms. Gay J. McDougall with the task of completing the study for submission to the Sub-Commission at its fiftieth session.
166- وعقب استقالة السيدة شافيز كمقررة خاصة، قررت اللجنة الفرعية في مقررها 1997/114 أن تعهد إلى السيدة غي ج. ماكدوغال بمهمة إنجاز الدراسة لتقديمها إلى اللجنة الفرعية في دورتها الخمسين.

In its decision 1997/110, the Sub-Commission took note of the Special Rapporteur’s explanation and urged him to submit his final report so as to allow it to be discussed at the sixteenth session of the Working Group and for consideration by the Sub-Commission at its fiftieth session.

In its resolution 1997/22, the Sub-Commission requested the Secretary-General to invite all States to inform the Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery of measures adopted to implement the Programme of Action and to report to the Sub-Commission at its fiftieth session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session.

10. In its resolution 1997/22, the Sub-Commission requested the Secretary-General to invite all States to inform the Working Group of measures adopted to implement the programme of action and to report to the Sub-Commission at its fiftieth session and to the Commission at its fifty-fifth session.

In its decision 1997/114, the Sub-Commission took note of the letter from Ms. Chavez in which she informed the High Commissioner of her resignation as Special Rapporteur and her inability to submit the final report, and decided to entrust Ms. Gay J. McDougall with the task of completing the study for submission to the Sub-Commission at its fiftieth session.

The Special Rapporteur recommends to the Sub-Commission to request the High Commissioner/Centre for Human Rights to provide the Sub-Commission at its fiftieth session with a reference document which would list all studies prepared in recent years for the Sub-Commission on economic, social and cultural rights.

In its decision 1997/108, the SubCommission decided to request Mr. Asbjørn Eide to review and update his study on the right to food submitted in 1987 (Human Rights Study Series No. 1, United Nations publication, Sales No. E.89.XIV.2) and to submit the updated study to the SubCommission at its fiftieth session.

211. At its fortyninth session, the SubCommission, in its resolution 1997/25, decided to request Ms. Lucy Gwanmesia to prepare, without financial implications, a detailed working paper on juvenile justice to be submitted to the SubCommission at its fiftieth session.

One delegation proposed that the SubCommission at its fiftieth session discuss a one-time agenda item entitled " Improving the role and representation of States members of the Subcommission at UNODC headquarters and field offices " and requested the Secretariat to provide an oral statement at that session giving statistics on the positions held by nationals of States members of the Subcommission.

The Legal Subcommittee recalled that the General Assembly, in its resolution 65/97, had agreed that the Subcommittee, at its fiftieth session, would submit its proposals to the Committee for new items to be considered by the Subcommittee at its fifty-first session, in 2012.

In a note verbale dated 31 July 2012, the Secretary-General invited Governments to provide by 19 October 2012 reports on research on space debris, the safety of space objects with nuclear power sources on board and problems relating to the collision of such space objects with space debris, so that the information could be submitted to the Subcommittee at its fiftieth session.
