The Committee noted that, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 58/89, the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee had continued its consideration of matters relating to remote sensing of the Earth by satellite.

57. Turning to the issue of remote sensing, he said that the Principles relating to remote sensing of the Earth from Space, adopted by the General Assembly in its resolution 41/65 of 3 December 1986, set out guidelines for remote sensing and provided safeguards against the abuse of remote sensing to the detriment of the interests of other States.

The view was expressed that all States should have equal access to remote sensing technology and the data produced by remote sensing technology, at a reasonable cost or at no cost, in accordance with the Principles relating to remote sensing of the Earth from Outer Space.
79- ورئي أنَّه ينبغي أنْ تستفيد جميع الدول على قدم المساواة وبتكلفة معقولة أو بالمجان من تكنولوجيات الاستشعار عن بُعد والبيانات التي تنتجها هذه التكنولوجيات؛ وذلك وفقاً للمبادئ المتصلة باستشعار الأرض عن بعد من الفضاء الخارجي.
