In accordance with General Assembly resolution 45/264, the Council will have before it the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of the agreed conclusions of the 1999 coordination segment of the Council on the development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development.

2. In order to place Africa on a sustainable growth path towards achievement of the internationally agreed target of reducing poverty by half by the year 2015, greater coherence is needed among policies regarding African development at the national, regional and international levels.

(a) Report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of agreed conclusions 1999/2 of the coordination segment of the substantive session of 1999 of the Council: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development;
(أ) تقرير الأمين العام عن تنفيذ الاستنتاجات المتفق عليها 1999/2 الصادرة عن الجزء المتعلق بالتنسيق من الدورة الموضوعية للمجلس لعام 1999: تنفيذ منظومة الأمم المتحدة للمبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية الأفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها()؛

The Economic and Social Council, in its agreed conclusions 1999/2,1 adopted at its 1999 coordination segment whose theme was " Development of Africa: implementation and coordinated follow-up by the United Nations system of initiatives on African development " , requested the Secretary-General to commission an independent evaluation of the performance of the New Agenda (para. 22).
كما طلب المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي إلى الأمين العام، في الاستنتاجات المتفق عليها 2/1999()، التي اعتمدها في الجزء المتعلق بالتنسيق الذي عقد في 1999، والذي كان موضوعه " تنمية أفريقيا: تنفيذ المبادرات المتعلقة بالتنمية الأفريقية والمتابعة المنسقة لها من جانب منظومة الأمم المتحدة " ، أن يكلف البعض بإجراء تقييم مستقل لأداء البرنامج الجديد (الفقرة 22).
