The Protocol on Explosive Remnants of War is the youngest of the five Protocols to the 1980 Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects.

Recalling also in this regard the specific commitments entered into by States that have ratified the 1980 Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects, and particularly protocol II on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby Traps and Other Devices, and calling on States to consider ratifying these instruments,

اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة المتعلقة بحظر أو تقييد استعمال أسلحة تقليدية معينة يمكن اعتبارها مفرطة الضرر أو عشوائية الأثر والبروتوكولان الأول والثاني الملحقان بها، جنيف، 10 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1980 (القرار الأميري رقم 13.329 الصادر في 12 شباط/فبراير 1998).

In a decision taken during the third Review Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the 1980 Geneva Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to have Indiscriminate Effects, which took place from 7 to 17 November 2006, the States parties tasked me to report to the Committee on universalization of the Convention.

In particular, if mines are to continue to be used, they should be laid in patterns that are clearly mapped, marked and recorded according to the 1980 Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects and the Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby Traps or Other Devices (Protocol II);

This Protocol shall not apply to mines as defined in Article 2 of the Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby-Traps and Other Devices, as amended on 3 May 1996, annexed to this Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May be Deemed to be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects (the Convention).
2- لا ينطبق هذا البروتوكول على الألغام، كما عُرِّفت في المادة 2 من البروتوكول المتعلق بحظر أو تقييد استعمال الألغام والأفخاخ المتفجرة والأجهزة الأخرى، بصيغته المعدلة في 3 أيار/مايو 1996، والمرفق بهذه الاتفاقية المتعلقة بحظر أو تقييد استعمال أسلحة معينة يمكن اعتبارها مفرطة الضرر أو عشوائية الأثر (الاتفاقية).

4.
