9. The main work of the Council during the fourteenth session was to continue its detailed examination of the revised draft regulations on prospecting and exploration for polymetallic sulphides in the Area, as contained in document ISBA/13/C/WP.1.

In the light of the advice provided by the experts, the Commission reviewed the draft regulations, which were based on the existing regulations on prospecting and exploration for polymetallic nodules and the model clauses developed by the secretariat in 2001, together with the elements that emerged from the discussions in the Commission during 2002 and 2003.
