16. In its resolution 60/139 on violence against women migrant workers, the General Assembly recognized the increasing feminization of migration and noted that women migrant workers are more vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

11. The draft resolution on violence against women migrant workers (A/C.3/60/L.16/Rev.1) underlined the important role of relevant United Nations treaty bodies in monitoring the implementation of human rights conventions, within their respective mandates, addressing the problem of violence against women migrant workers, and in protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of this group of women.
11 - وشدد القرار المتعلق بالعنف ضد العاملات المهاجرات على الدور المهم الذي تضطلع به هيئات الأمم المتحدة ذات الصلة المنشأة بموجب معاهدات في رصد تنفيذ اتفاقيات حقوق الإنسان، في حدود ولاية كل منها، وفي التصدي لمشكلة العنف ضد العاملات المهاجرات، وفي حماية وتعزيز هذه الفئة من النساء.

Mrs. LIMJUCO (Philippines), speaking on behalf of the sponsors, introduced draft resolution A/C.3/51/L.17/Rev.1 on violence against women migrant workers and said that Egypt, Fiji, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Uruguay had joined the sponsors.

As indicated in the Secretary-General’s report on violence against women migrant workers (A/52/356), there was a need to gather and analyse more information and data to adequately determine the extent of the problem as a basis for formulating policies and strategies.
وعلى نحو ما أشار إليه اﻷمين العام في تقريره المتعلق بالعنف ضد العاملات المهاجرات )A/52/356(، ينبغي جمع وتحليل المزيد من المعلومات والمعطيات المتعلقة بالمسألة لحصر المشكلة على نحو أفضل كيما يمكن وضع السياسات والاستراتيجيات اللازمة.

7. Under the terms of the draft resolution on violence against women migrant workers (A/C.3/62/L.14), the Assembly would encourage the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women to further the momentum of its work in finalizing a general recommendation on women migrant workers.
