The Committee recommends that the State party strengthen its measures to prevent and eliminate drug and alcohol abuse among children and to support recovery programmes for child victims of drug abuse, including by providing the Inter-ministerial Technical Committee for Combating Drugs with adequate resources.

While welcoming various policies and initiatives undertaken by the State party to improve adolescent health, the Committee is extremely concerned at the high number of teenage pregnancies, including those as a result of rape, the high incidence of sexually transmitted infections and drug and alcohol abuse among adolescents.
