The Centre also serves as a repository of relevant and timely information on issues related to civil society in development and governance, and facilitates effective and programme-based linkages between African civil society organizations and the international development community.

The ECA secretariat also undertook a study to assess the impact and effectiveness of African civil society organizations on the development and governance process in six African countries (Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda), which resulted in the distillation of best practices for enhancing the contribution of civil society organization networks.

The Commission would support the African Union Commission, RECs, member States, African civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) and African Airlines Association (AFRAA) to monitor progress on the full implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision on the liberalization of the African air transport market as well as issues on the safety and security of air transport.

This event drew notably on the findings of a meeting held in South Africa in February 2013 entitled " Structural Transformation in the African Context: Reflections on Priorities for the Post-2015 Development Agenda " , organized by the Pan-African Parliament, major African civil society networks and with support from the United Nations Millennium Campaign and the United Nations Development Programme.

ECA intensified its collaboration with African civil society organizations especially through various workshops, to build their technical capacity to play a meaningful role in the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) process, as part of the process of strengthening governance and achieving stable development with freedom and accountability in Africa.
