The positive points to be mentioned are the existence of a ministry specifically for women, and the efforts it is making to overcome this situation of discrimination from which women in Equatorial Guinea suffer in practice and within society, notwithstanding the equality assured by most legal provisions.

49. Pursuant to Commission on Human Rights resolution 1993/46 of 8 March 1993, the Special Rapporteur has again looked into the situation of women in Equatorial Guinea and their position in society.
٩٤- عملاً بقرار لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان ٣٩٩١/٦٤ المؤرخ ٨ آذار/مارس ٣٩٩١، اهتم المقرر الخاص مجدداً بحالة المرأة في غينيا الاستوائية ومكانتها في المجتمع.

51. Pursuant to Commission on Human Rights resolutions 1993/46 and 1995/86 of 8 March 1993 and 8 March 1995 respectively, the Special Rapporteur has again looked into the situation of women in Equatorial Guinea and their position in society.

5. The Committee welcomes the 2008 " No to violence against women in Equatorial Guinea " campaign as well as the establishment of the Fund for Social Development (FDS), which prioritizes women's access to health-care services.

90. The Special Rapporteur wishes to highlight the authorities' efforts to improve the situation of women in Equatorial Guinea and their position in society, although these efforts are still not sufficient to prevent women from being relegated to an inferior position and discriminated against, often as a result of cultural factors.

CEDAW welcomed the 2008 " No to violence against women in Equatorial Guinea " campaign as well as the establishment of the Fund for Social Development which prioritizes women's access to health care services.
11- ورحبت اللجنة بحملة عام 2008 " لا للعنف ضدّ المرأة في غينيا الاستوائية " وكذلك بإنشاء صندوق التنمية الاجتماعية الذي يعطي الأولوية لوصول المرأة إلى خدمات الرعاية الصحية(19).

40. The Government, through the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Advancement of Women, is currently drafting a draft bill on comprehensive protection aimed at preventing, punishing and eliminating violence against women in Equatorial Guinea, which is due to be submitted to Parliament at its next ordinary session.
40- تصوغ الحكومة حالياً، من خلال وزارة الشؤون الاجتماعية والنهوض بالمرأة، مشروع قانون الحماية التامة هدفه منع العنف ضد المرأة في غينيا الاستوائية والمعاقبة عليه والقضاء عليه، على أن يُطرح القانون على البرلمان في جلسته العادية المقبلة.

(i) In 2008 the first national campaign entitled " No to Violence against women in Equatorial Guinea " was launched, using various direct and indirect media outlets, especially at grass-roots level;

142. Added to the above are other very intensive and systematic activities, such as the first " No to Violence against women in Equatorial Guinea " campaign (17 to 25 November 2008).

138. In June 2009 MINASPROM held a technical planning workshop on the multisectoral programme entitled " Combating gender-based violence through independence for women in Equatorial Guinea " .

7. women in Equatorial Guinea had the right to vote and hold public and political office under the Constitution; and there were women in all three branches of government, although in much smaller numbers than men (fourth and fifth reports, p. 12).
