The purpose of the note was to assess the extent to which assistance provided to Myanmar continued to meet the provisions of Executive Board decision 96/1 and Governing Council decision 93/21.

1. In response to Executive Board decision 96/1, the present report contains an assessment of the extent to which the assistance provided to Myanmar continues to meet the provisions of Governing Council decision 93/21.

The 2003 HDI-IV assessment mission reviewed the extent to which assistance to Myanmar continues to meet the provisions of relevant Governing Council/Executive Board decisions and the progress and challenges in the implementation of HDI project activities.

The note by the Administrator on assistance to Myanmar summarizes the findings and recommendations of the annual independent assessment of the UNDP Human Development Initiative (HDI) programme in Myanmar for the period June 2010 to May 2011.

1. Takes note of the note of the Administrator on assistance to Myanmar (DP/2006/4) and of the report submitted by the independent assessment mission to Myanmar, in particular the key challenges and recommendations mentioned therein;

The Governing Council, Noting the report of the Administrator (DP/1993/60) on the actions taken on its decision 92/26 of 26 May 1992 and containing his recommendations for future programming of assistance to Myanmar,
إذ يحيط علما بتقرير مدير البرنامج )DP/1993/60( عن اﻹجراءات المتخذة بشأن مقرر المجلس ٩٢/٢٦ المؤرخ ٢٦ أيار/مايو ١٩٩٢، الذي يتضمن توصيات مدير البرنامج فيما يتصل ببرمجة المساعدة المقدمة إلى ميانمار مستقبلا،

There were two main developments in the activities for assistance to Myanmar in 1996: (a) the HDI (1994-1996), which consisted of 15 projects, was completed and (b) preparations were completed and activities were initiated on the extension of the Human Development Initiative (HDI-E) - 10 projects were developed in strict conformity with Executive Board decision 96/1.
٢ - حدث تطوران أساسيان في أنشطة المساعدة المقدمة إلى ميانمار في عام ١٩٩٦: )أ( فقد استكملت مبادرة التنمية البشرية )١٩٩٤-١٩٩٦( التي تألفت من ١٥ مشروعاً، و )ب( انتهت اﻷعمال التحضيرية وبدأت اﻷنشطة المتعلقة بتمديد مبادرة التنمية البشرية - فوضعت ١٠ مشاريع، في التزام دقيق بمقرر المجلس التنفيذي ٩٦/١.

In this regard, the Special Rapporteur supports the call of the United Nations Country Team for an increase in ODA for Myanmar through the United Nations system and for a more consistent approach to the issue of assistance to Myanmar on the part of the policy-making bodies of United Nations agencies (i.e. executive/governing boards).
ويعرب المقرر الخاص عن تأييده، في هذا الصدد، للنداء الذي وجهه فريق الأمم المتحدة القطري طالباً زيادة المساعدة الإنمائية الرسمية المقدمة إلى ميانمار عن طريق منظومة الأمم المتحدة وطالباً كذلك أن تتبع هيئات إقرار السياسات التابعة لوكالات الأمم المتحدة (كالمجالس التنفيذية/الإدارية) نهجاً أكثر تماسكاً إزاء المساعدة المقدمة إلى ميانمار.

One proposed possibility was the establishment of a functional committee with a mixed composition under the patronage of the United Nations coordination system with the role of monitoring and evaluating assistance provided to Myanmar.
111- وكانت إحدى الإمكانيات المقترحة تتمثل في إنشاء لجنة فنية مختلطة برعاية نظام التنسيق في الأمم المتحدة وتكليفها بدور رصد وتقييم المساعدة المقدمة إلى ميانمار.

Requests the Administrator to submit, at its first regular session 1997 and at its first regular session 1998, an assessment of the extent to which the assistance provided to Myanmar continues to meet the provisions of present Executive Board decisions, including Governing Council decision 93/21.
٣ - يطلب من مدير البرنامج أن يقدم إلى المجلس التنفيذي، في دورته العادية اﻷولى لعام ١٩٩٧ ودورته العادية اﻷولى لعام ١٩٩٨، تقييما لمدى استمرار المساعدة المقدمة إلى ميانمار في الوفاء بأحكام مقررات المجلس التنفيذي الحالية، بما فيها مقرر مجلس اﻹدارة ٩٣/٢١.
