The spirit of openness in the discussions on these questions encouraged the participants to continue to work with a view to reaching tangible results to this end.

In its resolution 49/81 of 15 December 1994, the General Assembly encouraged all States of the Mediterranean region to promote genuine openness and transparency in all military matters, particularly by participating in the United Nations system for the standardized reporting of military expenditures as well as by providing accurate data and information to the Register of Conventional Arms.

In resolutions 54/59 of 1 December 1999 and 51/50 of 10 December 1996 on strengthening security and cooperation in the Mediterranean region, the Assembly encouraged all States of the region to favour the necessary conditions for strengthening the confidence-building measures among them by promoting genuine openness and transparency on all military matters by, inter alia, providing accurate data and information to the Register.
ففي القرارين 54/59 و 51/50 المؤرخين على التوالي 1 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1996 بشأن تعزيز الأمن والتعاون في منطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط، شجعت الجمعية العامة جميع دول المنطقة على تهيئة الظروف اللازمة لتعزيز تدابير بناء الثقة فيما بينها، وذلك بتعزيز المصارحة والشفافية الحقيقيتين في جميع المسائل العسكرية عن طريق عدة أمور، منها تقديم بيانات ومعلومات دقيقة إلى سجل الأمم المتحدة للأسلحة التقليدية.

I should like once more to recall the principles of openness and lack of prejudice that Turkmenistan displays whenever the implementation of any project is being discussed.
