10. A group of nine partner NGOs from Central America organized the First Central American Forum on the Proliferation of Light Weapons from 27 to 29 June at La Antigua, Guatemala.

It welcomed with satisfaction the readiness of Sao Tome and Principe to work towards the restoration of peace in the countries of Central Africa afflicted by conflict and its determination to work for the implementation of the recommendations of the Conference on the Proliferation of and Illicit Traffic in Small Arms.
ورحبت اللجنة باستعداد سان تومي وبرينسيبي للمساهمة في عودة السلام إلى بلدان وسط أفريقيا الواقعة ضحية النزاعات، وكذا بعزمها على المساهمة في تنفيذ توصيات المؤتمر المعني بانتشار اﻷسلحة الخفيفة ذات العيار الصغير والتداول غير المشروع.

The Great Lakes and Horn of Africa Conference on the Proliferation of Small Arms, held in March 2000, in which 10 regional countries participated at the ministerial level, adopted the Nairobi Declaration, in which a number of regional cooperative measures to curb illegal small arms flows were proposed.
واعتمد مؤتمر البحيرات الكبرى والقرن الأفريقي المعني بانتشار الأسلحة الصغيرة في آذار/مارس 2000 وقد شاركت فيه عشرة من بلدان المنطقة على مستوى الوزراء، إعلان نيروبي الذي اقترح عددا من التدابير التعاونية على الصعيد الإقليمي للحد من التدفقات غير المشروعة للأسلحة الصغيرة.

After reviewing the recommendations formulated by the Subregional Conference on the Proliferation of and Illicit Traffic in Small Arms in Central Africa, held in N'Djamena from 25 to 27 October 1999, the Committee welcomed the efforts of the countries of the subregion to implement them.
بعد استعراض التوصيات الصادرة عن المؤتمر دون الإقليمي المعني بانتشار الأسلحة الصغيرة والأسلحة الخفيفة وتداولها بطريقة غير مشروعة في وسط أفريقيا الذي انعقد في نجامينا في الفترة من 25 إلى 27 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1999، رحبت اللجنة بالجهود التي بذلتها بلدان هذه المنطقة دون الإقليمية من أجل تنفيذها.
