In consultations held on 20 June, the Council heard a briefing by the High-level Coordinator on the issue of Kuwaiti missing property.

The State of Kuwait attaches great importance to the issue of missing persons because of its ethical, legal and humanitarian implications, and the issue of missing Kuwaiti property, including the national archives. Accordingly, it is our desire that the United Nations and the Governments of the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq should continue their efforts to resolve those questions.
ونظراً للأهمية البالغة التي توليها دولة الكويت لملف الأسرى والمفقودين لما له من أبعاد شرعية وقانونية وإنسانية، وكذلك أهمية موضوع الممتلكات الكويتية المفقودة والمحفوظات الوطنية، ورغبة منا في استمرار الجهود المبذولة من قبل الأمم المتحدة وحكومة كل من دولة الكويت وجمهورية العراق لإنهاء هذا الملف.

In September the Coordinator was informed that Kuwait had set up its own committee on the archives, chaired by the director of the international organizations department of the Foreign Ministry, which was waiting for an indication from Iraq on when both entities could meet in order to further work on the search for missing Kuwaiti property.
وفي أيلول/سبتمبر، أُبلغ المنسق أن الكويت قد أنشأت لجنة خاصة بها بشأن المحفوظات يرأسها مدير إدارة المنظمات الدولية في وزارة الخارجية، وأن تلك اللجنة في انتظار تلقي إشارة من العراق عن الموعد الذي يمكن أن تجتمع فيه اللجنتان بهدف مواصلة العمل المتعلق بالبحث عن الممتلكات الكويتية المفقودة.

In the resolution, the Security Council welcomed the ongoing cooperation between the two parties and the efforts to resolve outstanding issues related to the border and compensation, and called upon the Government of Iraq to facilitate the search for Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains still unaccounted for and to continue efforts to search for missing Kuwaiti property.
وفي هذا القرار، رحب مجلس الأمن بالتعاون القائم بين الطرفين وبالجهود الرامية إلى حل المسائل المعلقة المتصلة بالحدود، والتعويضات، وطلب إلى حكومة العراق تيسير البحث عن الكويتيين ورعايا البلدان الثالثة الذين لا يزال مصيرهم غير معروف أو البحث عن رفاتهم ومواصلة الجهود للبحث عن الممتلكات الكويتية المفقودة.
