- Saudi patrols working in border regions are careful at all times not to go beyond the borders of Saudi Arabia into any neighbouring State. The border of Saudi Arabia with Iraq is clearly marked, in accordance with the border agreement signed by the two countries, and features an earthen bulwark which is difficult to traverse.

36. Saudi Arabia noted that despite a commitment to human rights in the Transnational Federal Charter the security situation and State institutions still needed to be strengthened so as to promote of human rights.
36- وأشارت المملكة العربية السعودية إلى أنه بالرغم من الالتزام بحقوق الإنسان في الميثاق الاتحادي الانتقالي، فإن الوضع الأمني ومؤسسات الدولة لا تزال بحاجة إلى تقوية من أجل تعزيز حقوق الإنسان.

72. Saudi Arabia noted that the phenomenon of discrimination, targeting in particular Muslim communities, was proof of the deteriorating living conditions of these communities.
72- وأشارت المملكة العربية السعودية إلى أن ظاهرة التمييز، التي تستهدف بشكل خاص الجاليات المسلمة.

However, the Panel finds that increased costs that were incurred in the southern region as a result of the increased number of people crossing the border from Saudi Arabia into Yemen were not incurred as a direct result of Iraq's invasion and occupation of Kuwait, and are therefore not compensable.
غير أن الفريق يرى أن الزيادة في التكاليف التي تم تكبدها في المنطقة الجنوبية بسبب زيادة عدد عابري الحدود من المملكة العربية السعودية إلى اليمن لم تكن نتيجة مباشرة لغزو العراق واحتلاله للكويت ومن ثم ليست قابلة للتعويض.

14. Saudi Arabia stated that it has taken further steps to protect women and children from violence and abuse through the adoption of numerous measures, including promulgation of the Protection from Harm Act.
14- وأشارت المملكة العربية السعودية إلى أنها اتخذت خطوات إضافية لحماية النساء والأطفال من العنف وإساءة المعاملة من خلال اعتماد عدد من التدابير، من بينها إصدار قانون الحماية من الضرر.

In particular, the Working Group brings to the attention of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia its legal obligations as a State party to the United Nations Convention against Torture.
وعلى وجه الخصوص، يوجِّه الفريق العامل نظر المملكة العربية السعودية إلى واجباتها القانونية كدولة طرف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمناهضة التعذيب.

The Government had responded to that urgent appeal on 8 September 2009 stating that: " In this connection, the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have indicated that the above-mentioned person was detained on a security-related charge that necessitated his remand in custody for questioning.
