The Meeting welcomed the initiative of Indonesia and Norway in convening the Global Inter-Media Dialogue in Bali on 1-2 September 2006 which underscored the important role of the international mass media in promoting greater freedom of expression, increasing tolerance and mutual understanding among peoples of different cultural and religious backgrounds as well as in advancing peace.
