10. Under paragraph 9 of its resolution 2004/7, the Commission decided to renew the mandate of the openended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development, for one year and to convene its sixth session before the sixtyfirst session of the Commission for a period of 10 working days.

At the 14th meeting, on 26 June 2006, the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the Open-ended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development, Mr. Ibrahim Salama, presented the report of the Working Group prepared for the sixty-second session of the Commission on Human Rights (E/CN.4/2006/26).

The current open-ended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development was set up in 1998 along with an expert mechanism the independent expert (1998-2003) later replaced by a high-level task force on the implementation of the right to development (2004-2010) composed of five independent experts from five geographical regions.
