Chief among these was the concern expressed by the Council for increased consolidation and strengthening of the overall coherence of the academic activities of the University, particularly as it moves beyond the Medium-Term Perspective for 1990-1995.

8. The Council also decided to undertake an internal assessment of work under the University's second Medium-Term Perspective with a view to the preparation of the third Perspective.
٨ - وقرر المجلس أيضا إجراء تقييم داخلي للعمل في إطار المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثاني للجامعة بغية اﻹعداد للمنظور الثالث.

The development of the third Medium-Term Perspective included efforts to make the University’s ongoing programmes more coherent and responsive to the research needs of the United Nations.
وشمل وضع المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثالث بذل جهود لجعل البرامج الجارية حاليا في الجامعة أكثر اتساقا واستجابة لاحتياجات اﻷمم المتحدة من البحوث.

The MTP II document sets out the perspectives and approaches which are to guide the work of the University into the twenty-first century.
وتبين وثيقة المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثاني المنظورات والنهج التي يتوقع أن توجه عمل الجامعة في القرن اﻟ ٢١.

The four areas of concentration articulated in the University's third Medium-Term Perspective are peace and governance; development; environment; and science and technology.

The Council requested that the essential components of the assessment report and the institutional strategy paper and mission statement be integrated as a further step in the process of developing the University's third Medium-Term Perspective.
وطلب المجلس توحيد العناصر اﻷساسية لتقرير التقييم وورقة الاستراتيجية المؤسسية وبيان المهام كخطوة أخرى في عملية وضع المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثالث للجامعة.

35. Currently, the UNU Council was preparing the third Medium-Term Perspective, which would cover the period 1997-2002.

(f) Academic activities under the UNU third Medium-Term Perspective are carried out within four programme areas:
)و( وكان ثمة اضطلاع باﻷنشطة اﻷكاديمية في إطار المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثالث لدى الجامعة في أربعة مجالات برنامجية، هي:

1. Welcomes the completion of the second Medium-Term Perspective, 1990-1995, of the United Nations University and the ongoing work of formulating the third Medium-Term Perspective for the period 1996-2001, being considered by the Council of the University;
١ - ترحب باستكمال المنظــور المتوسط اﻷجــل الثاني، ١٩٩٠-١٩٩٥، لجامعة اﻷمــم المتحــدة واﻷعمال الجارية لصياغة المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثالث للفترة ١٩٩٦-٢٠٠١ التي ينظر مجلس الجامعة فيها حاليا؛

The first, held on 22 and 23 March 1995, was devoted to a discussion of ways of strengthening the role of the Conference, enhancing coherence and intra-university academic cooperation and the development of the third Medium-Term Perspective, for the period 1996–2001.
وكرس الاجتماع اﻷول، المعقود يومي ٢٢ و ٢٣ آذار/مارس ١٩٩٥، لمناقشة تعزيز دور المؤتمر، وتحسين الاتساق والتعاون اﻷكاديمي داخل الجامعة ووضع المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثالث للفترة ١٩٩٦-٢٠٠١.

213. In reflecting on its first 20 years of academic activity, the University completed the final year of work covered by its second Medium-Term Perspective (MTP II - 1990-1995).
٢١٣ - وقد أتمت الجامعة، وهي تعمل فكرها في سنواتها العشرين اﻷولى من النشاط اﻷكاديمي، السنة اﻷخيرة من العمل الذي يغطيه المنظور المتوسط اﻷجل الثاني )١٩٩٠-١٩٩٥(.

At the inter-agency level, UNU has participated in meetings of United Nations senior officials in the economic and social fields, in meetings of a number of subsidiary bodies of the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC) and in consultations for joint activities development, including in the preparation of the UNU Medium-Term Perspective and programme budget.
