5. As at April 2008, the number of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals whose mortal remains had been identified by Kuwait was 235.

The procedure involves soil removal, clean-up and taking samples of the skeletal material to confirm that the bodies are those of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals who are listed as missing.

18. I would like to reiterate my strong condemnation of the killing of Kuwaiti and third-country nationals by the previous Iraqi regime. The perpetrators of the crimes committed by the previous regime in Iraq should be prosecuted.

6. In a subsequent statement to the press, the President of the Security Council said that the Council expressed deep concern over the continuing plight of the Kuwaiti and third-country nationals still remaining in Iraq.

7 - ولكي تُغلق ملفات المفقودين من المواطنين الكويتيين ومواطني البلدان الثالثة البالغ عددهم 369 مفقودا، يلزم أن يتحقق ما يلي: (أ) العثور على الرفات؛ و (ب) استخراجها؛ و (ج) نقلها إلى الكويت؛ و (د) تحديد هوية أصحابها.

The United States shares your concern regarding the location and repatriation of these documents and fully supports the work of Ambassador Tarasov in this effort, and more generally, Ambassador Tarasov's role as High-level Coordinator for missing Kuwaiti and third-country nationals and missing Kuwaiti property.
