By its decision 13/COP.8, the COP decided that each future ordinary session of the CST should be organized in a predominantly scientific and technical conference-style format by the CST Bureau in consultation with a lead institution/consortium, qualified in and having expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the COP.
13- وقرر مؤتمر الأطراف، بموجب مقرره 13/م أ-8، أن تنظم كل دورة من الدورات العادية المقبلة للجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا في شكل مؤتمر يغلب عليه الطابع العلمي والتقني، ينظمه مكتب اللجنة بالتشاور مع مؤسسة رائدة/اتحاد رائد يتميز بالكفاءة والخبرة في الموضوع ذي الصلة الذي يختاره مؤتمر الأطراف.

Remembering decision 13/COP.8, paragraph 1, the COP decided that each future ordinary session should be organized in a predominantly scientific and technical conference-style format by the Bureau of the CST in consultation with the lead institution/consortium, which is qualified in and has expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the COP.

1. These terms of reference outline the selection process of a lead institution/consortium, which is qualified in and has expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the Conference of the Parties (COP), to organize the 3rd Scientific Conference of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
1- تبين هذه الاختصاصات عملية اختيار المؤسسة الرائدة (الاتحاد الرائد) المؤهلة وصاحبة الخبرة الفنية في الموضوع ذي الصلة التي يختارها مؤتمر الأطراف لتنظيم المؤتمر العلمي الثالث للاتفاقية.

By its decision 13/COP.8, the Conference of the Parties (COP) decided that each future ordinary session of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST) shall be organized in a predominantly scientific and technical conference-style format by the CST Bureau in consultation with a lead institution/consortium, which is qualified in and has expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the COP.
قرر مؤتمر الأطراف، في مقرره 13/م أ-8، أن يُنظَّم مكتب لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا كل دورة عادية مقبلة للجنة في شكل يغلب عليه طابع المؤتمر العلمي والتقني، بالتنسيق مع مؤسسة رائدة/اتحاد رائد مؤهل من أصحاب الخبرة الفنية في الموضوع ذي الصلة الذي يختاره مؤتمر الأطراف.

12. The COP, by its decision 13/COP.8, paragraph 1 (a), decided that each future ordinary session of the CST shall be organized in a predominantly scientific and technical conference-style format by the Bureau of the CST in consultation with the lead institution/consortium, which is qualified in and has expertise in the relevant thematic topic selected by the COP.

Exceptionally, the written contributions of States not submitted six weeks in advance should be published in at least the three working languages and at least one week before the relevant topic is discussed.
وبصفة استثنائية، فإن الإسهامات الخطية للدول والتي لم تُقدّم مسبقاً قبل ستة أسابيع، ستنشر بلغات العمل الثلاث على الأقل، وقبل أسبوع على الأقل من مناقشة الموضوع ذي الصلة.

The experts should be appointed by their Governments, have proven experience and academic background in the relevant topic and serve in their personal capacity.] [106 bis.
وينبغي أن يكون الخبراء معينين من حكوماتهم، ومتمتعين بخبرة ثابتة وثقافة أكاديمية في الموضوع ذي الصلة وأن يقدموا خدماتهم بصفتهم الشخصية.[

The teaching forms and methods are the responsibility of the teacher of the relevant subject.
أما أساليب وطرق التعليم فإنها من مسؤولية معلِّم الموضوع ذي الصلة.

Each branch of the Department should assign a focal point for regional issues, which would carry out liaison with the regional centres regarding relevant subject matter and provide them with all necessary information pertaining to their area (paras. 73-75)
