Furthermore, the Secretary-General was requested to mobilize the financial resources necessary to maintain the Institute and to make concrete proposals, including the provision of additional core professional staff required to strengthen the programmes and activities of the Institute in order to enable it to function effectively in the fulfilment of its mandated obligations.

The United Nations grant to the Institute was continued in the biennium 2004-2005, increasing from $380,300 in the previous biennium (2002-2003) to $447,900 (after adjustment for inflation). This amount will cover the salaries of the five core professional staff of the Institute (the Director, Deputy Director, Training and Human Resource Development Adviser, Administrative/Finance Officer and Information/Documentation Adviser).
