The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has expressed its concern that the presence of human rights field officers in the receiving prefectures and communes should be maintained and strengthened so that HRFOR can continue to provide information on the state of readiness in communes that may receive returnees and assist in their resettlement and reintegration.

108. The United Nations human rights field activities in the former Yugoslavia began in early 1993 with the deployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia of a small team of human rights field officers.
