58. The Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Programme, which is a joint programme of the World Bank and the Economic Commission for Africa, focuses its assistance on road maintenance, rural transport, urban mobility, trade and transport and railway restructuring.

C. Advocacy and policy 18. The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Union and the SubSaharan African Transport Policy Programme jointly organized a meeting of African experts on 4 and 5 April 2005 and another meeting of African Transport ministers on 6 April 2005 to consider the role of transport in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

In contributing to achieve the expected accomplishment, the subprogramme, in collaboration with Sub-Saharan African Transport Policy and Programme organized, in October 2009 in Addis Ababa, a meeting on transport development in Africa.
وفي إطار مساهمته في تحقيق الإنجاز المتوقع، نظّم البرنامج الفرعي، بالتعاون مع برنامج سياسات النقل في أفريقيا جنوب الصحراء الكبرى، اجتماعاً بشأن تطوير النقل في أفريقيا، وذلك في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2009 في أديس أبابا.

104. There have been a number of regional and subregional meetings resulting in declarations and resolutions and plans of action aimed at developing and improving the operations of transport in Africa.
