Para. 12: Ensure that victims of disappearances and/or their families have access to effective remedies, including compensation; ensure that all persons secretly detained are brought before a judge without delay; investigate all cases of disappearances, inform the families of victims about the results of such investigations, and publish the final report of the ad hoc National Commission on Disappearances (arts. 2, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 16).

24. Mr. SOUALEM (Algeria), responding to question 12 of the list of issues, said that the ad hoc National Commission on Disappeared Persons, which had been established on 11 September 2003 by the President of the Republic for an 18-month term, had immersed itself in analysis of the problem and had engaged in contact with the families. The Commission's report could be made public only by decision of the President of the Republic.
24- السيد السوالم (الجزائر) قال إن اللجنة الوطنية المخصصة المعنية بالمفقودين (السؤال رقم 12) التي أنشئت في 11 أيلول/سبتمبر 2003 بموجب قرار من رئيس الجمهورية وأُسندت إليها ولاية مدتها ثمانية عشر شهراً والتي تُكرِّس عملها على إمعان النظر وإجراء اتصالات بالأسر قامت بإعداد تقرير لا يجوز إلا لرئيس الجمهورية اتخاذ قرار بإعلان محتواها على الملأ.
