However, during the reporting period vigorous efforts were made by the United Nations, the Russian Federation, in its capacity as facilitator, the group of Friends of the Secretary-General on Georgia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to revitalize the peace process.

The decree orders the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia to prepare recommendations, with a view of intensifying both, direct dialogue with the Abkhaz side and negotiations with the active participation of the United Nations and the Friends of the Secretary-General on Georgia.

10. Throughout the reporting period, the members of the group of Friends of the Secretary-General on Georgia maintained contact collectively and individually with the parties to the conflict and with my representatives at Headquarters and in the field.
١٠ - وطوال الفترة المشمولة بالتقرير، استمر أعضاء مجموعة أصدقاء اﻷمين العام بشأن جورجيا في إجراء اتصالات بصفة جماعية وصفة فردية مع طرفي النزاع ومع ممثليﱠ في المقر وفي الميدان.

Due to your efforts, talks were held between the Georgian and Abkhaz sides at Geneva from 23 to 25 July, attended by the representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the countries making up the group of the Friends of the Secretary-General on Georgia.
وبفضل ما قمتم به مــن جهــود، عقدت محادثات بين جانبي جورجيا وأبخازيا في جنيف في الفترة من ٢٣ إلى ٢٥ تموز/يوليه، حضرها ممثلون عن مؤتمر اﻷمن والتعاون في أوروبا والبلدان التي تشكل مجموعة أصدقاء اﻷمين العام بشأن جورجيا.

4. In the formal sessions, statements were made by the Georgian and Abkhaz sides, as well as by the representatives of the Russian Federation, France (on behalf of the Friends of the Secretary-General on Georgia), OSCE, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Department of Humanitarian Affairs of the Secretariat.
